Description
CLOPAM 0.5MG TABLET contains Clonazepam, a medication from the benzodiazepine class. It is primarily prescribed to treat seizure disorders (epilepsy) in both adults and children, as well as panic disorder in adults, which may or may not involve agoraphobia (fear of open or crowded spaces).
Epilepsy is a neurological condition that causes frequent seizures, resulting from abnormal bursts of electrical activity in the brain. These seizures may manifest as sudden shaking, jerking movements, collapsing, or loss of consciousness. Panic disorder involves sudden episodes of intense fear or anxiety, often without warning.
While undergoing treatment with CLOPAM 0.5MG, your doctor might monitor your liver function through blood tests. It’s important to avoid alcohol during this period, as it can trigger seizures or intensify side effects, potentially leading to severe drowsiness or sedation.
This medication is not suitable for individuals with certain conditions such as myasthenia gravis, acute narrow-angle glaucoma, sleep apnea, serious lung or breathing issues, and severe liver problems. Speak with your doctor before using it if you have any of these conditions.
Caution is also advised for patients with moderate liver problems, severe kidney disease, low blood pressure, mental health conditions like depression, psychosis, or schizophrenia. Always consult your healthcare provider before starting the medicine.
CLOPAM 0.5MG TABLET is not usually recommended during pregnancy unless absolutely necessary. It may also pass into breast milk, so breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before use.
Use in children and elderly patients should be closely supervised and guided by a medical professional.
Serious side effects may include suicidal thoughts, self-harming behaviour, or sudden changes in mood or behaviour. If you experience any of these, contact your doctor immediately.
Common side effects can include drowsiness, dizziness, balance and coordination issues, tiredness, memory problems, or feelings of depression. Notify your doctor if any of these symptoms persist or become more severe.
